Book Review. The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas.

(English HW for Ms Brogan)
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a very unusual story. Written by John Boyle, The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas is one of the most powerful and disturbing books I have ever read.. It is the story of an event that mustn't ever be forgotten. This story is created, through the narration of a young and extraordinary child.
Bruno is nine years old, and he is not very happy. His father has a new job and is leaving his beautiful house, his neighborhood and his three best friends behind in Berlin. His big sister Gretel is (as he refers to as) a "hopeless case". Their servants keep to themselves, and Bruno's mother tries to explain that this is not only a promotion for his father, it's his duty. His father shows next to no sympathy for Bruno. We learn that he is a military man, and that he is very strict.  With no friends to play with, and no one who understands, Bruno begins to try and accept his new home, and it's strange surrounding.
These strange surroundings not only poor Bruno, but any 9 year old child would find find hard to get used to include;
Many of his father's soldiers, particularly a mean lieutenant named Kotler, a frail cook who apparently is also a doctor. And strangest of all is the barbed-wire fence outside his bedroom window, and the scared groups of men and boys beyond, who all for some reason, wear striped pyjamas. Along that fence he'll meet the boy of the book's title.
John Boyne's The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a young adult novel about the Holocaust. By focusing on Bruno's innocent and confused view of the events happening in the life around him, Boyne gives readers an unique perspective on the everyday Germans who took part in the Nazis' ultimate solution.
I wouldn't hesitate a moment to recommend this book to anyone over the age of 12. I believe that it is a very informative and well written masterpiece about an event I hope the human race will never repeat.

Mi Mejor Amigas.
